In 2019, while reviewing for this journal Peter Sedgwick’s earlier book, The Origins of Anglican Moral Theology, my final words were a plea that Peter would now complete the outstanding piece of work which he had begun by bringing his critical historical account up to the present day. It is a delight that this volume almost fulfils just that request.
