Christology and Global Ethics: Encountering the Poor in a Pluralist Reality

Christology and Global Ethics: Encountering the Poor in a Pluralist Reality
Alexandre Andrade Martins
Paulist Press, 2023, 224pp., pbk., £22.

Christology and Global Ethics is an aspirational work that seeks to exegete Luke 4:16-30, Jesus’ Nazareth manifesto, in light of liberation (particularly South American) theologies. Clearly, coming from the Paulist Press, it is rooted in Roman Catholicism, and this proved challenging to a reader not well-versed in this type of theology. That is by no means a negative comment, and the time I put into reading the book was rewarding.
