Identity Politics and the Search for a Neurodiverse Church

One of the key insights in identity politics is that our perspective is largely determined by our position, so it will help to state some of mine. I am a white British, married man, who has spent too many years at fancy universities, and I am now the vicar of a diverse church in Nottingham. I am also autistic, the founder of Neurodiverse Church, and the author of Faith, Hope, and Autism: Learning to Love Neurodiversity. My background and formation has mostly been in evangelical contexts, and while I am still committed to the authority of Scripture, my autism makes me less inclined to conform to any single group’s way of interpreting it.
