Identity Politics and the Church
The politics of identity is evident everywhere.
I remember the excitement at the delivery of pallets of the newest Harry Potter books to the supermarket on release day, and the queues for the cinema when the latest film came out. I open up X/twitter now and find Emma Watson, who played Hermione in the films, and J. K. Rowling the author, engaged in an uncomfortable war of words over the rights of women and the rights of transgender people.
