We have all felt it – the excitement, the allure, the retail experience, the buzz of buying something new.
Much of our time we are eagerly engaged in a relentless search for goods, a few of which we need, many of which we don’t. Sometimes the process of searching for and discovering new products is just as enjoyable as owning them – so we do it again! Whether it’s a new phone, a new top, or a new holiday, as American theologian Walter Brueggerman said, ‘if you want it, you need it’. But what does this passion for the retail experience mean for our faith and our church?
