The Place of the Parish: Imagining Mission in Our Neighbourhood
Martin Robinson
SCM Press, 2020, ix + 160pp., pbk
The Church’s mission, Robinson argues, depends on ‘how we discern what God is doing’ (vii). In The Place of the Parish, Robinson’s aim is to argue that the Church’s ability to do this ‘hinge[s] on how we interpret the context in which we are located’ (vii). Put otherwise, the Church must engage with and be deeply committed to those places in which it finds itself, because it is by paying attention to the places we live in and the people that we encounter there in all their particularity that we will come to learn more of God’s ways with the world.
