Forum: ‘A Worshipping Body, not a Body of Worshippers’

This succinct little maxim of Patrick Hankey (1888–1973) sets out what was for him, and for those involved in the Parish Communion movement, the Church’s belief about itself. The Church is corporate. Worship incorporates us into Christ and makes us one body. It could never merely be about an aggregation of the like-minded. Or, in other words, the Church is more of a lump than a pile.
