Leo McGarry, in The West Wing’s first episode, warns against “Taking everyone on the Christian Right, dumping them into one big basket and labelling them stupid.” Strømmen and Schmiedel similarly explore whether Christians should accept responsibility for Far Right extremists who claim theological legitimacy. Both conclude that Christianity cannot merely distance itself, but must take the claims seriously in order to combat them.
