Imagining Mission with John V. Taylor
Jonny Baker & Cathy Ross
SCM Press, 2020, xiv + 160 pp., pbk
As I approached this book, I was very conscious that I am not an Anglican, and that I know nothing about John V. Taylor. But I was intrigued by the title, and by one word in particular: ‘imagining’. Until recently I served as a District Mission and Evangelism Facilitator in the Methodist Church and in that role I found myself frequently asking questions such as: “How do we help churches have an imagination to do things differently?”, “If the only model of mission that you know is the one you currently have, where does the imagination come from to try something different?” In response to those questions, this is the book I wish I could have put into the hands of every church I worked with – a relatively short read that manages to be both accessible and challenging.
