Theology Reforming Society: Revisiting Anglican Social Theology
Stephen Spencer, ed.
SCM Press, 2017, xvi + 188 pp., pbk
This collection contributes to the growing interest in Anglican social theology (AST), and explicitly seeks to build on the groundwork laid by Malcolm Brown’s 2014 volume, Anglican Social Theology. A key focus of this renewed interest in AST centres on how far it can in fact be understood as a single tradition. This volume, both in substance and form, reaffirms the diffuse nature of AST (itself reflective of Anglican ecclesiology, as Malcolm Brown points out in his chapter), but is also notable for drawing often unexpected links of continuity between different strands of the tradition.
